The CCHS was formed in 1996 to provide practical support to members who own working horses, and to provide a source of pleasure for anyone interested in working horses. Our name was chosen so that the society could incorporate all forms of working horse, from the majestic Shire to the small and sometimes mischievous Shetland pony and all breeds in between.

Our members have a wealth of working horse knowledge and experience and are pleased to help any member wishing to develop themselves or their horses. As a society we offer experience days, training days, lectures, film evenings, and social events. Our members include both horse owners and non-owners alike. All that is needed is a desire to see the continued success of working horses. We have a wide age range of members, which includes a very active young handler section.

The society works hard to promote the inclusion of working horse classes at shows and ploughing matches. Many members travel far and wide with their horses, but the society as a whole operates in general area of the Cotswolds.
