South End of the Showground - Nr Funfair
The BASC Scurry League will be running at Frampton Country Fair and will be the last event to gain points for the Scurry league Table ahead of the Grand Final.
Open to all gundog breeds (including recognised crosses of those breeds). It's £2 per run for each scurry although Junior Handlers (16 years of age and under) will be entitled to receive one free scurry ticket per scurry held, thereafter tickets will be £1 each.
Those placed 1st - 3rd in each Scurry will receive a certificate, rosette and vouchers for Sporting Saint and Skinners as well as points towards the League Table.
Held at The Lake
The Competition is open to all breeds, shapes and sizes of Gun dog. The dog must retrieve two dummies separately. The event is timed and the shortest timed retrieval wins.
The winner of each class holds a perpetual cup or shield for one year.
- Labradors & Retrievers
- Gloucestershire Wildfowlers Association
Held near The Orangery Pond
Competitors will be required to send their dog to retrieve two dummies, leaping over bales of straw of varying heights. The dog must retrieve two dummies separately. Prizes will be awarded for the shortest timed retrieves.
Prizes 1st - 3rd
There will be a separate event for Junior Handlers (5 to 15 years) where both the handler and dog retrieve the dummies.
Rosettes 1st - 3rd
On The Orangery Pond
The dog has to retrieve a dummy from the water and then both dog and handler have to race around the pond, get in a boat, travel across the pond, do a second retrieve and then go over some bales and race to the finish line. Phew!
The dog and handler's scramble is timed, with the dog off the lead. Time faults will be added for any obstacles not negotiated correctly or if the dog does not retrieve the two dummies.
Open Class - Prizes 1st, 2nd and 3rd
Held at The Lake
Water Retriever Racing
A fun race between some of the more unusual breeds of gun dogs. All of those taking part are used for water work on driven shoots, duck ponds or wildfowling.
Two dogs from each breed will race against each other against the clock in a simulated set of water retrieves.
This is a wonderful opportunity to see a real mix of working gun dogs compete against each other.
Taking part we usually have Curly Coated Retrievers, Flat Coat Retrievers, Golden Retrievers, Irish Water Spaniels and Labrador Retrievers.
